" 'Sinking...' started as an untitled spur-of-the-moment interlude idea. I'm real big into improvisation and going with the flow with whatever happens while playing; especially when it comes to instrumentals--tend to feel a lot more comfortable exploring outside the box. So, after I had created and recorded what is now 'Sinking...', I moved on to start writing more tunes to revolve "around" it. It didn't occur to me right away, but I was spending more time than I wanted on the idea. I decided to show some friends what I was working with, and the majority of ideas they expressed almost harmonized with one another in the sense that they all suggested--more or less because I was giving the half of a song so much attention to begin with--to make it the introduction to the album. Giving time, I decided to take their advice and adopt the idea.
Not very much long after, I had followed up with 'Transparent Blue'; which was also improvised as I recorded it. By that, I mean that I was recording as I conjured ideas; almost building as I was climbing my way from the bottom..."

lyrics
I've tried harder than you can ever imagine
To keep from sinking further down.
Suffocation,
Chlorination,
Flailing about in fear;
The bottom of my lungs are near.
I'm finding that it's so easy
To want this than need more.
I'm sinking to the ground.
Hydrophobic,
Oxygenless,
Transparent blue soon turns to black;
I'm waiting for you.
Pull me back.
Can't see, can't breathe.
All four of my limbs are weak.
Can't see, can't breathe.
All four of my fucking limbs are weak.
